Gutter work, blah. The gutter above the garage is coming down. It was drooping before we moved in. That was in August. Then in December we got hit with the first blizzard and it looked bad. Then in February we got hit again, in one week, with 2 storms, dropping a ton of snow, literally, on our room right above the gutter. And now the gutter needs to be replaced.
I remembered that the previous owners replaced that gutter and left me paperwork. They had that gutter replaced on 5.18.08. Just over 2 years ago. Something doesn't sound right. So I called the same guy up. Guy and I finally connected today after having played phone tag since last Thursday. Yep, a week. He wants to charge us $175 MORE than he charged the previous owners 2 years ago to replace the gutter. I feel like he's making a ton of money due to the snow.
I should have been honest with him and said that actually the gutter was falling down in August and I never got around to calling about it and that it somehow survived thru the snow and now with the rain we've had it's finally called it quits.
In the meantime I'm trying to get a few other estimates. Why should I let the same guy put a new gutter back on the house when the last one he installed only lasted less than 2 years? My money needs to last longer than that.
And we're waiting to get back the estimates and landscaping plans from our landscaper but we got a ballpark which I think is reasonable. The range starts at $1500 to just weed and mulch which to me is worth it. That means I don't have to do it, I'm sold.
